Some of our visitors may have noticed that our website has been plagued with issues over the past 4 weeks that have impacted our access to the site. This has severely reduced our ability to deliver our service to Supporters and visitors alike.

Our site was targeted by malicious user(s), alongside two other sites managed by one of our volunteers. This resulted in the site being taken offline as a precautionary measure while further investigations were carried out. The security sweep and audit carried out by our volunteers was very time intensive but thankfully, verified that the site had not been breached and that no data had been lost. The site is secure and not distributing any type of malicious files or other web-based exploits.

Despite this, we are now in the process of transferring the site to a new web host. In part, this is because the site has been growing in terms of content and daily visitors, exceeding the capabilities of our current host. The new host will be upgraded to cope with the additional traffic.

Our volunteers are currently putting together a strategy to move to the new web host with as little impact as possible to our site visitors and members, although there will be some disruption to our online day-to-day services, which unfortunately cannot be avoided.

The move is expected to take over a week to complete. The first step required is a full backup of the databases and files before transferring the files to a new host and updating the DNS records of the domain name. During this period, the site and SAS email addresses will be completely unavailable, so if you need to contact us, please use the following SAS@jamesglen.org.uk

Work is expected to commence on 27th June until 6th July 2016. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

With best wishes,

SAS team
