The Inverness Demo was organised by Stop Highlands Windfarms Campaign and Scotland Against Spin in partnership with Wind Wise Radio to highlight a US petition that received over 4470 signatures from 45 countries. The petition asked the First Minister to stop the reckless siting of wind turbines in Scotland’s scenic landscapes.

Graham Lang (SAS) and Pat Wells (SHWC) manned an SAS stall inside the SNP Conference hall and discussed industrial wind issues with many delegates.

The video provides a snapshot of the protest, on what was one of the coldest days in March for over 30 years, which saw public transport infrastructure disrupted, electricity supplies cut off, and many protestors unable to get to Inverness due to heavy snowfall elsewhere in Scotland.

This video shows the determination and passion of those who were able to attend. It is a testimony to the growing popular conviction that current wind energy policy is wrong.

The music in the video is ‘Last Train’ by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band from the album Hot City. Most SAHB fans will recognise it as being a slightly different version of the song ‘Anthem’ from the Impossible Dream album. We chose the song as we felt it was an appropriate anthem, by a very Scottish band, for the hard work and determination of protesters and environmental protection groups from all over Scotland.
