A working group of the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) has published a report setting out a new method that it hopes will be adopted by the industry as a way of
rating instances of amplitude modulation in wind turbine noise.

A 3dBA penalty could be introduced if amplitude modulation (thumping) occurs at a wind farm.
