Scotland against Spin (SAS) is the national alliance of groups and individuals which campaigns for reform of the Scottish Government’s wind energy policy. Founded two years ago, it is a grassroots organisation, run entirely by volunteers and funded by individual donations.
It is completely independent of any political party, lobbying or commercial interest. SAS has grown rapidly and daily offers advice and support to individuals and communities faced with turbine applications or the consequences of consented applications.
Many members of Scotland Against Spin are active members of their local communities, and have considerable experience of all stages in the process of wind farm development.
We have engaged in debate and discussion with the Scottish Government at ministerial and civil servant level and taken our campaign for reform to all Scottish political party conferences since the autumn of 2012.
Our submission will focus on electricity policy, with particular reference to wind energy, and will begin with comments on the Scottish Government’s submission to the Smith Commission, More Powers for the Scottish Parliament.
