June and Ed Hall have recovered from yesterday’s emotional farewell to their neighbour’s turbine https://scotlandagainstspin.org/2018/02/another-one-bites-the-dust/ and have written their final update for us.  Quite emotional for us too as we’ve been living through the ups and downs of the last three years along with them.  One more may have bitten the dust but there are plenty more in need of attention!

Cheers Ed and June.  Enjoy the peace and quiet,  you earned it.

It looks like this is the final conclusion to our turbine tale.
We last updated in November 17 having been told by Highland council that our neighbour had 56 days within which to comply with his Breach of Conditions Notice and remove the turbine. This deadline came and went with no activity, when asked, the council informed us that for some reason our neighbour had 94 days within which to comply not 56. More waiting !
The apparent deadline was now the 23rd January 2018. This date came and went, no surprise to us, nothing happened. We were told our neighbour had contacted the council on the 22nd January with yet more excuses as to why he couldn’t comply. More heated exchanges between us and the council with them stating our neighbour would act “as soon as possible” and if he didn’t they would eventually act themselves.
Wonder of wonders, yesterday a van turned up, Thursday 7th Feb, carrying a man, a nice man with the necessary gear to lower the turbine, a sight to behold !!! Within four hours, the turbine which hasn’t produced any electricity since July 15 was no more. And our concerns that our neighbour would try to recommission the turbine, a constant threat for three years, had gone. A very emotional day !
Please, anyone out there facing a similar situation, don’t give up, keep going, even when you suffer set backs. As it turned out, the best advice we received in the beginning was to check and double check all the paperwork involved in the planning. If it were not for Scotland Against Spin and in particular Aileen Jackson, we don’t know where we’d have been, so we would like to thank them very much. If we can be of any assistance to anyone in a similar position, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via SAS.
Signing out from a quiet and peaceful hillside in the North West Highlands.
Ed and June Hall
