Dear Sir/ Madam,
Thank you for your email, allowing further comments on the proposal until the 18th June.
In addition to my previous submissions of 24th April and 9th May, I would like to re-emphasise my strong objection to the extortionately-expensive transmission link for the Viking Wind Farm, a single, hugely-destructive industrial wind factory.
As far as I can see there is not a single mention, not a whisper anywhere, to protect precious wildlife, to protect vast areas of pristine peat, a vital, natural carbon store. The importance of Shetland’s incomparably-beautiful landscapes and shores to bird life, could hardly be overstated!
The over deployment of ‘unreliables’ is already undermining an extremely fragile energy system. The link below from a renowned energy expert should serve as a stark warning! To add yet more intermittency would not just be stupid, but insane.
Finally, surely the Shetlanders themselves must have the final say in this monstrous proposal!
