I’d like to say thank you to Aileen Jackson and Rachel Connor for representing SAS at the DPEA Stakeholders’ Meeting on 31 July.
The matters raised by Stakeholders’ were
    1.  Virtual consultation – Aileen Jackson (SAS)
    2.  Housing Land – Clare Symonds (Planning Democracy)
    3.  Improved guidance to explain the appeal process – Rachel Connor (SAS)
    4.  Roll Call Votes – Penny Uprichard (Royal Burgh of St Andrew’s CC)
    5.  Inquiry process matters arising- Marcus Trinick QC/Stephanie Conesa (Scottish Renewables)f)
    6.  Implications of Covid-19 and the new normal – Neil Collar (Law Society of Scotland)
Aileen had taken statements from a number of people living in remote areas who were struggling to participate in the planning process due to broadband problems and/or lack of computer equipment. This had been exacerbated by the pandemic but it was an issue which needed raising generally. It sparked a lot of debate and (nearly) everyone present agreed something had to be done to improve the situation. Aileen has another meeting lined up for 11 August to take this forward.
Rachel’s request for improved guidance to explain the appeal process was well received and they agreed to her request without hesitation and thanked her for the suggestion. DPEA are hoping to have something put together by September. Once the Stakeholders’ have agreed on the content it will be published and ready for distribution electronically and in hard copy.
We will have further information for you shortly.
