The reality of the mega-size of new 149.9 metre high turbines being constructed at Gordonbush Wind Farm has hit home.
An abnormal load carrying a 63.5 metre long turbine blade inched its way north along the A9 from Nigg harbour yesterday, turning at Brora to access the single-track road Strathbrora road.
The wind farm operated by SSE Renewables and some 9.5km north west of Brora, is accessed at Ascoile.
Work to prepare bridges and parapets along the route for the abnormal loads has been going on for months.
A trial run was held earlier this month.
Information about further deliveries of turbine components can be found here.
