Notice has been served that a planning application might be put forward to build a new windfarm on the border of Moray and Aberdeenshire.
EnergieKontor UK, a subsidiary of a German-owned company, is tentatively looking at building nine turbines to the west of Haugh of Glass, as well as a substation and tracks to the site.
The turbines, which would be sited not far from the Dornell windfarm, would be 200 metres high from the tip of the blades to the ground.
As such, the company put forward what’s known as a planning advice notice to Moray Council’s planning committee yesterday.
This aims to gain advice on what the potential issues could be if a formal planning application was made in the future.
Several matters were raised, including the windfarm’s potential effect on tourism and upon wildlife such as black grouse.
Although not necessarily against the proposal, councillor Claire Feaver (Forres, Conservative) pointed out the number of turbines already in the area.
