Renewables developer Wind2 has filed plans for an extension to its consented 30MW Ben Sca wind project on the Scottish Isle of Skye.

“The additional two turbines would be known as the Ben Sca Wind Farm Extension and would deliver approximately 8.4MW of additional installed capacity,” Wind2’s website said.

Wind2 received consent from The Highland Council for the 29.4MW capacity Ben Sca Wind Farm in November 2020, but only for seven of the nine turbines it wanted, at a tip height of 135 metres.

The outfit reduced the size of the initial site, 2 km south of Edinbane, in response to planners’ concerns over landscape and visual effects.

The project team then identified a nearby site, north-west of the consented turbines, at a lower height.

“In order to present a balanced design with the seven consented turbines and clear the tree canopy, it is proposed that the additional two turbines would have a tip height of 149.9m, but retain the same rotor diameter as the consented turbines,” Wind2 stated.  https://renews.biz/74587/wind2-files-ben-sca-extension-plan/
