Scottish renewable energy developer, Galileo, is to explore the potential of Crosbie Wind Farm, on an upland area between Fairlie, West Kilbride and Dalry.

The company will soon begin early engagement with locally elected representatives, community councils and groups in advance of initial public consultation events in November.

It is anticipated that the proposal will generate over 50MW of clean, green energy – delivering a significant community benefit fund of £5,000 per installed megawatt for every year that the wind farm is in operation, in addition to community ownership options.

Detailed environmental and ecological studies have recently got underway on the site, which will inform the design of the initial proposal for a 13-turbine scheme and Battery Energy Storage System.

A report will be submitted to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit, setting out the proposed approach to the environmental impact assessment and project development.
