Nearly half of adults cannot understand why the UK needs to import energy from abroad, research has found. The study, of 2,000 adults, found 44 percent think the country’s energy needs should be served entirely by solar and wind power, with 43 percent baffled that we don’t have more solar farms.
However, 24 percent admitted they don’t really understand how energy is produced, while another 21 percent are clueless about how the grid works.
It also emerged 39 percent wouldn’t feel comfortable explaining what the National Grid is to someone, while 23 percent said their knowledge of how energy is produced is weak or non-existent.
