For many years, campaigners against industrial wind turbines have been highlighting the inadequacies of the ETSU-R-97 in accurately predicting noise levels from industrial wind turbines. The guide is often criticised as being out of date, as it was written at a time when turbines were much smaller, and does not take into account Low Frequency Noise.

A couple of days back ‘A Good Practice Guide to the Application of ETSU-R-97 for the Assessment and Rating of Wind Turbine Noise‘ (available below) was published into the public domain.

What does it do to provide comfort to wind farm neighbours? We await expert feedback and will let you know.
