It was of immense interest to me to read the comments of Scottish Transport
Minister Keith Brown (“Ministers frustrated by meeting over A9, September
6), namely that it “passes through areas that are breathtaking and hugely
important in terms of wildlife and landscape”.
Most certainly it does; one can only conclude this must be a different A9
from the one beside which the Scottish Government thought it was quite all
right to build a power line, running from Beauly to Denny, and consisting
of massive unsightly pylons.
Pity about that, because some joined-up thinkers might have worked out that
some undergrounding of said power lines could have accompanied an upgrade
of the A9, had it been the same road, of course.
