Ian Marchant is to join the board of Aggreko from November 1.

It is the second significant non-executive appointment for Mr Marchant, 52,
who stepped down as chief executive of SSE on July 1 after a decade in
charge at Perth. Last month, Infinis, the renewable energy group set up by
private equity maestro Guy Hands, said Mr Marchant would become chairman of
its holding company ahead of an imminent public listing. He earned £2.6
million last year and retired with a pension pot valued at £10.5m, and
shares potentially worth another £4.6m, and is likely to receive £70,000,
the fee paid to other non-executives at Aggreko, with the exception of
chairman Ken Hanna, appointed in April 2012, who is paid £229,000. Mr
Marchant also chairs the UK Energy Institute and Scotland’s 2020 climate
delivery group, and is senior independent director at Wood Group.
