I NOTE with interest the contribution from Elizabeth Marshall (Letters, October 22) regarding the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point and her view that Scots will be “subsidising the energy needs of the wealthier south of England”. This assumption is questionable and probably less valid than the related view that English energy consumers are subsidising our headlong and ill-advised rush into discontinuous wind energy because there are a lot more of them paying the subsidies for wind power grants on their energy bills
