A PROPOSED wind farm which attracted complaints from the hosts of next year’s Ryder Cup has been blocked.
Bosses at Gleneagles Hotel, which will be the venue for the golf tournament, strongly objected to plans for turbines to be erected near to their courses.
They claimed it could damage the success of the event, which will see the world’s top golfers compete at Auchterarder, Perthshire amid fears the turbines would blight the area and deter potential tourists.
Proposals for seven turbines on the Ochil Hills were submitted to Perth and Kinross Council by Wind Prospect Developments.
The Scottish Government were called in to rule on the matter after the council failed to give a decision and said it should not go ahead.
