ALAN Taylor comes to the glum conclusion as he travels round the country
this referendum year that we, the Scots, are aesthetically challenged as
manifested by the clothes we choose to wear, ugly post-war buildings built
for functionality, and other fine buildings neglected or razed to the
ground (“Wrecking balls have left a brutal legacy”, The Herald, March 12 ).

He warns that we must be ever-vigilant of our heritage while we insist that
whatever goes up or comes down adds to the visual appeal of the land.

I agree with the tenor of his argument but like to think that some of us
would add the vandalism and desecration of our beautiful landscape by the
proliferation of wind turbines to the case he makes.
