Council planners have recommended refusal of a five-turbine wind farm for
land outside Kirkcudbright.

The Barcloy Hill project by RES UK and Ireland Limited has been met with
800 letters both in support and objection, with 550 against the plans.

Those against the sceheme claim there is a saturation of wind farms in the
region already and say they have concerns over the long term impact such
developments will have on health, tourism and the landscape.

Those in support, however, claim such farms will help meet the Scottish
Government’s renewable energy target of a 100% generation of the counrty’s
energy needs being met by renewables by 2020.

A decision will be made on Thursday.
