MEMBERS of the team building the controversial 137-mile Beauly to Denny
powerline are celebrating a significant milestone having completed all 539
tower/pylon foundations in the Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission
section.

They say the completion of the final foundation, located near Amulree,
Crieff, has brought to an end three years of mud, sweat and toil for the
140 men in the Balfour Beatty foundation teams. They poured 67,000 cubic
metres of concrete, enough to fill 27 Olympic swimming pools, to cement
2156 tower legs into position. The project ends in 2015.
