I agree with the learned professors McInnes and Younger that ??Why clean
energy is far from secure in the future??, The Herald, December 1.
I agree with the learned professors McInnes and Younger that ??Why clean
energy is far from secure in the future??, The Herald, December 1. The
reality is that there are in fact two types of electricity; firm power and
wrong time electricity generated, in the main, by thermal power stations
and wind, wave, solar and tidal devices respectively.
Wrong time electricity, as the name suggests generate at almost all the
wrong times and few, if any green electrons flow through our consumer units
because it is essentially worthless ??junk electricity?? and does
absolutely nothing towards addressing the effects of climate change.
The rather erroneous assumption that all this renewable electricity is
reducing our reliance on fossil fuels may well make the majority feel all
warm and fuzzy although I accept that renewables per se may keep fossil
fuels in the ground for a day or two longer. If we continue to blunder down
this road our grandchildren will end up with no fossil fuels or trees aka
woody biomass left to burn.
There are already some Scottish Inventions that will provide firm power
24-7-52 from wind wave and tidal streams but these are being largely
ignored by vested interests.
My suggestion would be for the UK government to stop all subsidies for this
intermittent junk electricity and only pay out on non-intermittent firm
power supplied 24-7-52.
Only then will we address climate change and secure the future of our
planet into infinity.
