Changes to Scottish Water EIA Consultation Process
From housing to industry, Scotland’s water and waste water infrastructure is an important consideration in the planning and construction of new developments.
Under the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 (‘the EIA Regulations’), Scottish Water should be consulted by local authorities on receipt of a request for an EIA Scoping Opinion, and again when an Environmental Statement (ES) associated with an EIA and planning application is received.
With a view to ensuring quality and consistency of consultation responses at the EIA stage, Scottish Water has set up a dedicated mailbox for all correspondence regarding projects requiring EIA. All future correspondence on the new process or regarding Scottish Water EIA consultations should be sent to EIA@scottishwater.co.uk.
