Rejected wind farm developers considering reapplying at Reay – John OGroat Journal

Developers of a windfarm which was rejected by the Scottish Government last
Summer are exploring the possibility of resubmitting plans to build 24
turbines on the outskirts of Reay.

Infinergy has applied to the Highland Council to submit a scoping report to
construct 24 turbines on the Limekiln estate.

In July, energy minister Fergus Ewing rejected the application as he said
it would have an unacceptable impact on the landscape.

The application was the subject of a public local inquiry in Thurso held in
August 2014 with the final decision made 11 months later.

In June, the UK government axed its subsidies for any land-based wind farm
development which had not yet received planning permission.
