I WOULD like to provide some context to George Herraghty’s (January 21) ,
which states that on one recent night “wind’s contribution to the National
Grid [was] precisely 0.15 per cent”.

To take a less selective view, across 2014 – a year in which renewable
energy was once again confirmed as Scotland’s main source of electricity –
wind provided 23 per cent of all the power we generated, as well as helping
renewables as a whole displace the equivalent carbon emissions of our whole
transport sector.
