EDF Energy Renewables has signed a five year deal with Wind Towers Scotland
for the Argyll based company to supply turbine towers for all its onshore
wind farm projects in the UK.

The agreement for an undisclosed sum will see the Campbeltown firm supply
towers for EDF ER’s Beck Burn wind farm near Carlisle. The Beck Burn
project will see nine turbines at the site which can produce up to 31MW of
power, enough to supply around 17,000 homes.

Applauding EDF ER’s pledge to support the local economy, Alasdair Gammack,
Business Development Manager for Wind Towers Scotland said, “The commitment
is very welcome as we strengthen our position as the UK’s only large scale
wind tower manufacturer for onshore and now offshore. With a workforce of
over 150 people and growing and an annual wage bill in excess of £5
million, it is hard to exaggerate the importance of the wind towers factory
to the Kintyre economy.”
