A new opinion poll published today by ComRes has shown strong public
support for wind power, with four in five people (80%) in Scotland
supporting onshore wind farms.

This is even higher than the 73% of the UK public which support wind farms.

ComRes interviewed 2,037 British adults online between 12 and 13 October 2016.

SNP MSP Gordon MacDonald (Edinburgh Pentlands) commented: “This opinion
poll is a vindication of SNP support for renewable energy technology, which
creates jobs, provides us with a secure source of energy and helps us meet
our climate change commitments.

“The Tories are completely out of touch with public opinion on this issue –
despite some Tory MSPs personally profiting from wind – and UK Government
cuts to support for this industry have been completely wrong-headed,
risking jobs and our future prosperity.

“The Scottish Government will always work to protect jobs, develop
renewables and meet our climate change obligations – and this poll is yet
further evidence that the public backs us in these ambitions.”
