IN his visits to Holy Isle, Arran (Letters, October 11), Dr Dave Gordon
appears to miss the point. The island is both peaceful and beautiful,
something he does not apparently appreciate. Much of South Ayrshire from
Ardrossan to Ballantrae has similarly been blighted by the eyesores erected
in the name of fighting climate change. Few got the chance to even oppose
their intrusion on the landscape.

The irony is that a replacement for clean, carbon-free nuclear energy
produced at Hunterston would render all these eyesores obsolete. It would
also guarantee energy when the wind fails to blow or blows too strongly.
The size of the Holy Isle turbines is irrelevant, it is their presence and
potential damage to wildlife that irks.

Dr Bernard Zonfrillo,
28 Brodie Road, Glasgow.
