Renewable energy company Eneco has been awarded the Sustainable Investment
accolade at the Department for International Trade (DIT) Investment Awards
for its 60 MW Moy wind farm near Inverness.
The Sustainable Investment accolade recognises Dutch businesses that have
successfully invested in the UK in the previous 12 months.
In its submission, Eneco provided details of a significant 10-year deal
with Mars Incorporated to supply 12 Mars UK sites with energy generated
from the 20 turbine, 60 MW Moy Wind Farm that was commissioned in April 2016.
Judges for the awards paid tribute to the Eneco’s Citizen Business Model
that ‘successfully achieved robust financial objectives in harmony with
sustainable environmental, social and governance initiatives
– predominantly in relation to its strong commitment to the local community.’
Eneco has had a UK presence since 2008 and operates in both solar and wind
energy generation. Combined, it generates more than 200 MW of energy annually.
This win follows a successful 12 months for the Warwick-based sustainable
energy company. Earlier this year, Eneco UK launched a partnership with
Co-operative Energy that provided local householders with a 100% renewable
energy tariff, generated from Moy Wind Farm.
