WITH reference to the correspondence on the Creag Riabhach wind farm
(Letters, December 7), I have to say I was surprised that it has been
approved. I lived in Sutherland for around 10 years in the 70s and 80s and
have a considerable attachment to the area.

It could be argued that much of the area is somewhat degraded through
over-grazing, indiscriminate burning and in places, inappropriate siting of
forestry. But the land is remote, has very few features of built
development, and low levels of light pollution; if this is not “wild”
country what is?
