French developer opens new community wind farm near Huntly – Scottish Energy News

Published by SAS Volunteer on July 19, 2017 July 19, 2017

A 10-MW community wind farm near Huntly in Aberdeenshire has been
officially opened by Scottish Energy Minister Paul Wheelhouse.
The five turbine project has been built by Engie, the French renewable
developer, in collaboration with the land-owner and Huntly and District
Development Trust.
Over its 20-year scheduled lifespan, the wind farm will generate around £3
million for local projects in and around Huntly.
Cairnborrow Wind Farm – ENGIE’s most recent renewable energy project in the
UK – is part of ENGIE’s broader 85MW renewable energy portfolio which
includes solar capacity in addition to onshore wind.  The company also owns
and operates First Hydro, the 2GW pumped storage facility in North Wales.
