I also attended the Seminar on Wind Turbine Infrasound and
the effect on people’s health in Glasgow on 22 September. Unlike Ms Hobbs I don’t
believe any evidence was produced which showed a causal link between the two.

However, I did find it somewhat irritating to have it
suggested that the real problem with wind
turbine noise is not audible noise; it is the infrasound emission.

From my own and my community’s unfortunate experience of
living with excessive audible wind turbine noise for many years, I do not
believe this to be true and neither it seems do many, as the number of windfarm
neighbours attending the meeting was very low.

This rather bold statement will however cause great concern
to the majority of people who suffer no problems from living beside a windfarm but
need to sell their homes. Prospective
buyers may well be put off viewing a property for fear of getting sick from
something they cannot hear.

Having lived 300 metres from a noisy wind turbine for nearly two years I can guarantee it’s the AUDIBLE noise that is the problem.
It disturbs/prevents you sleeping, quiet enjoyment of your garden is impossible and the AUDIBLE noise can be heard a kilometre away so even a country walk in the area you live cannot be had due to the almost constant operation of the turbine.

We have a wind farm just over 2km from us and we don’t hear it at all. We don’t suffer any ill effects from infrasound either and nobody in our village has complained either. We are very good friends with our local GP and he has no reports of anyone feeling ill effects from living near to the wind farm. I can understand if people can hear audible noise that they would complain but infrasound is NOT a problem. Let’s get in the real world.
