Cash-strapped East Ayrshire Council has spent over £3 million on external consultants in the past two years.
But the depute chief executive of the local authority has claimed the vast spending, revealed after a Freedom of Information request from GMB Scotland, is “essential” because the council doesn’t have the in-house expertise to carry out the tasks.
