A Danish-based manufacturer has trumped German and Spanish rivals to be
confirmed as preferred supplier for 100 new turbines planned for a new
Moray Firth wind farm.
Moray Offshore Windfarm East has selected its preferred turbine supplier
for the 950MW windfarm in the Outer Moray Firth, 15 miles from the Scottish
coast.
The scope will include the supply and installation of 100 Vestas V164-9.5MW
offshore wind turbine generators.
Denmark’s MHI Vestas beat off competition from German and Spanish rivals to
win the long-awaited deal.
Moray Offshore Windfarm East is a joint venture company – owned by EDP
Renewables (77pc) and ENGIE (23pc) – which was recently awarded a 15-year,
£57.50-MWhr power supply contract the UK Government.
Meanwhile, reinstatement works at the Clyde wind farm extension – currently
one of Britain’s biggest wind farm sites – have been completed in South
Lanarkshire where trainee Scots civil engineer Alistair Dow, 25, from
nearby Symington, has since been retained by the contractor on another project.
