RES deserve our thanks for once for admitting that flicker from Neilston Windfarm in East Renfrewshire is causing a problem.  Having passed diary and video evidence to the Environmental Health Officer at East Renfrewshire Council who submitted it to the technical analysts at RES, windfarm neighbours were this week informed that:

Our technical analysts have now completed their detailed analysis and confirmed the potential for a limited number of shadow flicker events to occur at residents property on an annual basis.

As such we will take the steps to mitigate against this by stopping turbines when the weather conditions make flicker possible.

As Neilston Windfarm is embedded in the local electricity network, it is not eligible for constraint payments so the operators will be out of pocket when the turbines are turned off.

Cumulative wind turbine noise in the area was confirmed last year as breaching Noise Conditions by 9dB.  This is still under investigation by the Council’s Planning Department while the Environmental Health Department investigate claims of Nuisance.
