Energy developers based in England and Portugal have submitted new planning applications to build two new wind farms in Scotland.

Blue Energy is already undertaking assessment and design work on a wind farm proposal on land on the Kintyre Peninsula approximately 12 miles south of Tarbert, Argyllshire.

Its Glasgow based agents Arcus has prepared a scoping request for the 90-MW ‘high constellation’ wind farm, which would comprise a total of 19 turbines each with a maximum blade height of 450-ft.

Meanwhile, Portugal’s EDPR is seeking Scot-Govt planning permission for a new 1-GW offshore wind farm in the Moray Firth.

EDPR already has consent for an earlier development – Moray East – and this new development would comprise 85 turbines with blade heights extending to more than 850-ft.
