Red Rock Power appoints renewables champion as new chief executive – Herald

Published by SAS Volunteer on November 15, 2018 November 15, 2018

By Brian Donnelly Business Correspondent
Energy developer Red Rock Power has announced the appointment of Guy
Madgwick as its new chief executive.
The firm said it signals a “momentous year ahead” following the recent
acquisition of 50MW Afton Wind Farm in East Ayrshire for an undisclosed
amount.
The new chief executive will be responsible for steering the developer’s
next phase of growth after a successful 2018 which saw it expand the
Edinburgh-based team by a third.
Red Rock Power also said its proposed offshore wind farm project, Inch
Cape, continues to “take strides forward”.
Mr Madgwick has over 30 years of experience working within the European
energy industry, and spent his early career as a geologist in the oil and
gas industry before moving into the power sector.
He has championed renewables and sustainability for about 15 years in
senior leadership roles with major utilities and private companies.
Mr Madgwick said the firm is a “key player in the Scottish, UK and European
renewables industry”.
He added: “Scotland and the UK has a wealth of natural resources and we are
eager to play a key role in creating affordable clean energy as we all
strive towards low carbon electricity generation.”
Red Rock Power Limited is the Edinburgh-based subsidiary and European
headquarters of SDIC Power, a power generation company headquartered in
Beijing, China.
The developer said it has strong ambitions to grow its portfolio through
new merger and acquisition and new offshore leasing round opportunities.
