This is not simple but very useful for in depth understanding of the grid issues. We think it is key to getting politicians to understand the disaster we are hurtling towards re grid instability and enormous costs.

GWPF have published a collection and update of John Constable’s GWPF blogs on the electricity system fragility. ( I particularly like the paintings used to illustrate – The Brink of Darkness Britain’s Fragile Power Grid)

The new first section and other recent ones are very useful in addressing some of the questions which come up – re cost of Balancing Services Use of System (BSUOS) charges, the more recent ‘Optional Downward Flexibility Management‘ or ODFM and total costs of dealing with asynchronous, uncontrollable generation on the grid.
