A Reporter’s Guide to Planning Appeals and Local Development Plans
with Dan Jackman Senior Reporter
Department Planning and Environmental Appeals

To Book go to https://pd30mar.eventbrite.co.uk

This accessible workshop focuses on two aspects of Planning: Appeals and Local and National Development Plans.

Developers have the right to appeal planning decisions, and often do. What is less clear is the public role in appeals, and how you can have your voice heard through the appeal process.

There is also very little help for communities to understand the process of Local Development Plans, or to have a real chance of influencing them.

Dan Jackman, a senior reporter at the Scottish Department for Environmental Appeals, will explain both processes and help you understand the Reporter’s role.

7.00-8.30pm Tue 30 March. Book:https://pd30mar.eventbrite.co.uk

This workshop will cover:

  1. An application that would badly affect your community is rejected by the Council. Celebrations are short lived because the developer appeals. What does this mean, what happens next and what can you do?
  2. How do Reporters make decisions at Appeals? How do they decide whether to hold a Hearing or a full Inquiry? How can a community present their case at an Appeal?
  3. Your Local Development Plan-which guides planning decisions- is up for review, how can you do to influence it?
  4. What lies ahead? Local Development Plans are set to change, how will things be different?
