Rogart Community Council has decided to object to a planned small wind farm in a bid to highlight a wider transport issue.
Members agreed to register an objection with the local authority to the Strath Tirry Wind Farm, north of Dalmichie, Lairg.
The wind farm, comprising four turbines measuring 135m to tip, is being proposed by REG and Falck Renewables, who are working together to secure planning permission and build the project.
Falck Renwables would be the owners and operators of Strath Tirry.
Rogart Community Council chairman said abnormal loads relating to the Strath Tirry development would be among many which would potentially pass through the village.
Mr Roach said he was hoping to persuade some of the wind farm developers to “spend some money looking at transport options rather than assuming they will come up from Invergordon to the Mound”.
It has been calculated that, if all the proposals under consideration happen, then there will be nearly 1700 abnormal loads going through the village and going back empty.
Mr Roach added that he hoped an objection from the community council would serve to highlight the large volume of wind farm construction traffic and its impact.
“We are basing (the objection) purely on a transport issue that impacts us and will affect everyone’s working day,” he said.
