Two Dumfriesshire windfarms could see an increase in both the number of turbines and their tip heights.
South Lanarkshire-based Muirhall Energy Ltd has submitted two Section 36 applications to vary the planning consents for the Hopsrig and Loganhead windfarms.
They are adjacent to the company’s 10-turbine windfarm project at Crossdykes Farm, near Lockerbie and Langholm, which officially opened in October.
The Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit has asked Dumfries and Galloway Council to give its opinion on the plans and the public can make representations by February 4.
Muirhall Energy Limited received planning permission for 12 turbines at Hopsrig and eight at Loganhead windfarms in 2019 but is now looking to increase the tip heights to 200m and introduce an extra turbine at both sites – bringing the generating capacity for each project to more than 50 megawatts.
Dumfries and Galloway Council previously approved 135m tip heights for eight turbines for the Loganhead site, which is 15km north-east of Lockerbie and 4km north-west of Langholm.  https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/firm-bids-increase-number-height-25839276
