DATA
Data on renewable energy in Scotland has been published for many years appearing on a quarterly basis and reflecting the state of play 3 months earlier.
I have used the data to create two documents (attached) which I update quarterly one of which is a spreadsheet.
This is easy to understand as it includes headings for the columns. These are self-explanatory apart perhaps from column K. That shows the total of those schemes which are operational and those under construction. That is arguably a better way of showing what is needed to reach targets than operational schemes alone..
I have shown the quarterly increases in operational schemes and every March the annual figures.
While these figures have been subject to variations it is clear that the 2030 target of 17GW (which appeared in the Scottish Energy Strategy and has just been ignored) will easily be met.
It is worth noting that most of the capacity currently under construction is from offshore schemes.
There is a huge amount of consented capacity which as yet is not under construction but details of that are for another day.
