Alba Party deputy leader Kenny MacAskill has been criticised for a “pathetic stunt” to highlight the “scandal” of electricity from a Scottish wind farm being “siphoned south”.
The East Lothian MP posed with a woman in a fancy dress outfit outside the UK Government offices in Edinburgh to “expose the Great Berwick Bank Robbery”. He is fuming about the decision to bring 40 per cent of the electricity generated by the Berwick Bank wind farm ashore in Northumberland.
This is despite the fact that Scotland frequently relies on energy from the rest of the UK and Europe, especially when the wind is not blowing at times of peak demand.
