Please show support to our Norwegian friends by registering your bonfire/fire pit, gas burners or even candles for tonight’s event..  Many in Scotland have registered already.  Scotland Against Spin has highlighted this event in past years but it is now really taking off due to the number of communities faced with wind farm applications on their doorsteps.
“Cairn ignition is an ancient Norwegian tradition of warning danger to the people. On Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., bonfires will burn all over Norway as well as supporting cairn ignitions in the rest of the world, to give hope and unity to people, and to highlight our formidable opposition to wind power in our vital and beautiful nature. We also support the Sami fight against wind power in the reindeer grazing districts on this day.
We hope some of you will light a fire with us, and give me information about it so I can plot it consecutively into the map. The number of bonfires reported is increasing every day now, and we welcome all supportive bonfires. This applies to bonfires, fire pits, gas burners and candles.”
In addition, we have a minute’s silence for nature at 7.30 pm. It deserves our attention.
We now have 550 registered bonfire events in Norway and the world
Sincerely, Irene Njå-Gjellestad
