For the typical home energy demand in moving to heat pump technology and an EV from gas and a petrol car reduces energy consumption by over 60% but costs the same to run. In other words, energy just got 260% more expensive. If everyone followed suit then we would require 8 times more electricity than we have now. What’s more we would need it consistently not intermittently.
