A FORMAL planning consultation has been launched for a proposed new wind farm on land between West Kilbride, Dalry and Fairlie.
And the public now have until March 21 to respond.
Developers Galileo Green Energy have lodged an official application with the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit in a bid to construct up to 14 turbines at the site, each with a maximum height of 200 metres.
The plans can be viewed at North Ayrshire Council’s HQ and the libraries in Largs, Millport, Fairlie, West Kilbride, Ardrossan and Dalry.
The applicants say the development would generate more than 78 megawatts (MW) of “clean, green energy”, enough to power up to 51,289 homes a year.
A battery energy storage system is also planned to store the energy produced at the site, with a capacity exceeding 50MW.
A total of £390,000 in ‘community benefit’ funding could also be paid out by Galileo for each year of the project’s lifespan if it receives planning approval. https://www.ardrossanherald.com/news/24908540.say-14-turbine-wind-farm-bid-north-ayrshire/?fbclid=IwY2xjawIQk4hleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHdy7vT3HMT6BRpFFOzIc7j_iGcerU7CfdBdDnTRVdmNr_ZwXgZSERmZiZQ_aem_eKjqh2SqzGbghO47sBGjwA
