So, here we are with our politicians supposed to be “saving the planet” – “Energy bill discount for UK residents living near new pylons, but cost hikes to pay for it” (Scotsman 11 March).
Landscapes trashed with thousands of wind turbines and pylons bristling on hillsides and once pristine seascapes. Birds, bats and insects decimated. Local opposition ignored. Millions facing higher bills to pay for Miliband’s pylon “bribe”.
Even Germany’s prominent energy expert, Dr Lars Schernikau has just admitted that the “energy transition in its current form, as a grid-scale build out of wind and solar with the goal to replace oil, coal and gas, is probably one of the greatest mistakes that humanity has ever made”.
Now the energy secretary, Ed Miliband is trying to bribe us with £250 of our own money, extorted from our energy bills, to accept even more monster pylons and power lines carving through communities.
And, what say do uncaring politicians allow us quiet rural residents to have on the matter? Net Zero!
