LIKE them or loathe them, wind turbines have become a permanent feature of our landscapes in recent years.
Across East Ayrshire, dozens of developers have thrown up hundreds of the towering structures – with plenty more in the pipeline.
But one area in particular, dubbed Scotland’s ‘dumping ground’ for such sites, has been branded the “worst affected village” in the whole country.
For some New Cumnock residents, they’ve had enough. More than 500 turbines built or planned within an eight-mile radius of a village with a population of around 2,500 people.
