THE economy of the Highlands could be transformed by plans to create a “wealth fund” to pay for infrastructure and communities from a £100 billion investment in renewable energy schemes across the area.
Under the plans unveiled yesterday, a strategic fund will be created to invest in economic and community projects across the region.
It is part of a joint vision for how the Highlands can prepare for a forecasted £100bn in renewables investment.
But it comes amid growing concern about the scale of planned developments across rural Scotland.
