Over the last week, we’ve had a ‘dunkelflaute’ – no wind. So it’s not a surprise that turbines have been still and we’ve had to import electricity to keep the lights on.
Despite this, periodically turbines spring into action and start spinning whilst most of the others remain still.
At such times of electricity shortage, (now that Government policy has made us dependent on renewables), does anyone know how much electricity is being used to turn these useless and otherwise idle turbines?
The public should know that wind power stations are consuming rather than producing electricity when there’s no wind!
