THANK you to both industry body Renewableuk and the Energy Department (DESNZ) for calculating that 16.1GW of offshore wind can roast more than three million turkeys in electric ovens at once (“Britain generating enough offshore wind power to roast 3m turkeys at once”, The Herald, December 24).
It can also potentially heat more than 260million cups of mulled wine per hour. Or power more
I’m sure this will be handy to know for people who can’t afford to turn on their electric fires or cookers during the festive period.
Perhaps there’s a feature to be written on how few kettles solar power in the UK can boil during the winter solstice?
